I called the First District Police substation, and spoke to Detective Freeman. He transferred me to officer Allison Jones, who handles hit-and-run cases.

She said the backlog of cases means they generally won't even see the case for about 30 days. When they begin investigation late April or early May, they will contact me for any additional information.
Wow. Bummer. 4+ weeks before they even start.
